I am an Assistant Professor in the Department of Accounting of the Kelley School of Business at Indiana University - Bloomington. I have been at Indiana University since the Summer of 2013.
Prior to this I was a Ph.D. student at the University of Southern California's Marshall School of Business. While studying at USC, I was a research assistant for Professor Mark DeFond. Mark graciously chaired my dissertation committee. I also worked as Professor Mathew D. McCubbins' research assistant. I am very grateful to these two scholars for their role in my doctoral education!
Before studying at USC, I earned undergraduate and graduate degrees from Brigham Young University in Accounting. As part of my studies, I was a part of BYU's School of Accountancy's Ph.D Prep Program. As part of the program, I was a research assistant for Professor Douglas F. Prawitt. Doug provided cruicial mentoring as I began my academic career. Without his help, I'm doubtful I would have ever entered academia.
I'm married to Melanie McMullin. We are the proud parents of three boys and a golden doodle named Sally.
My hobbies include: woodworking, painting, drawing, photography, and sports.
