Photo Essay: Morning Ritual of a CEO

On a typical morning, Seed Strategy CEO and President Susan Jones wakes up at 5 a.m., makes herself a cup of tea, and mentally prepares for the work day ahead while riding her horses.

"Rarely do you get much coaching as a CEO—you don't really have a teacher—and I think it's key that for several hours in the morning I'm taught by my instructor Nancy Baker and the horses. I know what it's like to be a student. I know how to break down a problem and sort it through, so I'm ready with that mindset when I come to work."

After she finishes riding, she gets ready for work, occasionally taking a call from the home office in her barn, the original home of Seed Strategy, before her drive to company headquarters in Northern Kentucky by the Greater Cincinnati airport.
